The University Hospital Zurich (USZ) wants to further improve the care of ALS patients. To this end, the competencies of the Zurich medical centre in the area of muscle diseases and complementary medicine are to be bundled and expanded. The Neuromuscular Centre Zurich (NMZ) – a joint offer of the Department of Neurology, the Department of Pneumology of the USZ and the University Children’s Hospital Zurich – already treats patients with ALS. The capacities of the NMZ as a coordination centre for ALS-specific advice, support and research are now to be significantly expanded. This will make it possible to carry out more studies with the aim of improving the quality of life of those affected. The Renate Rugieri Foundation is supporting the project through a donation to the USZ Foundation.
